Artists of the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre have wound up a performance tour in eight big cities of France, within a cultural exchange project between the theatre and the Bordeaux Grand Theatre (France).

Vietnam’s Xoan singing has entered the world’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritages in need of Urgent Protection.

Photos and objects on Vietnam and the country’s cuisine are being showcased at the Charleroi Expo 2011 in Charleroi city of Belgium. Addressing the opening ceremony of the event, Ambassador to Belgium Pham Sanh Chau said Vietnam is one of the two countries chosen as the main theme of the expo “Let’s explore Vietnam”.

The Capital City Flower Festival will straddle the New Year, running from December 12, 2009 to January 3, 2010. This festival, which is being held for the second time, will be Vietnam’s first major cultural and tourism activity in 2010.

Bat Trang pottery earns a meritorious position in a private showcase of around 7,000 objects characterising different ethnic groups in Vietnam. "Some people like fancy things but I am attracted by Bat Trang pottery's simplicity and I prefer things that were made for the people," said Mark S. Rapoport, a doctor from the US, who is the owner of the collection that is being exhibited at Hanoi's central Hang Bun street.
